You are trusting us with details most people never share at work: what you earn, what your role includes, and the work that never makes it into your review. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who can see it, and the choices you have. It applies to thetally.ai, The Baseline, your Equity File, Momentum Coach, and our emails (together, the “Services”).  (“The Tally,” “we,” “us”).

The short version

We collect the information you give us so we can calculate your number and build your Equity File. We do not sell your personal information. Your employer does not get access to your file. [Legal and product to confirm before publication.] If you choose to contribute your data to our research, it is anonymized and combined with other records before it is used. You can ask to see, correct, export, or delete your information at any time.

What we collect

Information you give us. Your name and email address when you create an account or subscribe. Workplace details you enter, such as role or job title, level, industry, location, years of experience, compensation range, and the kinds of work you are regularly asked to carry. Anything you add to your Equity File or share with Momentum Coach, including notes about your scope, outcomes, and upcoming conversations. Messages you send to our team.

Information collected automatically. Basic device and usage data, such as browser type, pages visited, and how you move through The Baseline, collected through cookies and similar technologies. We use this to keep the Services working and to improve them. [Product to list the analytics and cookie tools in use.]

What we do not ask for. We do not need your employer’s name to calculate your number, and we do not ask for documents from your employer’s systems. [Confirm against the live form.]

How we use it

  • To calculate your number and build and maintain your Equity File.

  • To power Momentum Coach so its guidance starts from your record.

  • To operate your account, respond to you, and send the emails you have asked for.

  • To keep the Services secure and prevent misuse.

  • To improve our methodology and product.

  • To meet legal obligations.

We use your information only for these purposes, and we will ask before using it for anything materially different.

Contributing to the bigger record

Your Equity File is private. Separately, you can choose to contribute your data to the body of evidence The Tally is building about how work is assigned, recognized, and paid. Contribution is [opt-in / opt-out, legal and product to confirm]. Contributed data is stripped of direct identifiers such as your name and email and combined with other records before analysis. We publish findings only at an aggregate level that is designed to prevent anyone from identifying an individual. [Confirm minimum group sizes and anonymization method.] You can stop contributing at any time in your settings, and future records will not be included.

Who can see your information

  • You. Your employer does not have access to your Equity File or your answers. [Confirm before publication.]

  • Service providers who help us run The Tally, such as hosting, data storage, email delivery, analytics, payment processing, and AI model providers, under contracts that limit their use of your data to providing services to us. [Product to list provider categories and confirm AI providers do not train on member data.]

  • Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of our members and the Services.

  • A successor company, if The Tally is involved in a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information and Equity File for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within [NUMBER] days, except where we must keep it to meet legal obligations. Anonymized aggregate data that no longer identifies you may be retained for research. [Legal to confirm retention periods.]

How we protect it

We use [encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and other safeguards, engineering to confirm] to protect your information. Access inside The Tally is limited to people who need it to run the Services. No system is perfectly secure, and if a breach affects your information we will notify you as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

You can view and update your information in your account. You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it. You can turn off research contribution and unsubscribe from emails at any time.

Depending on where you live, including California and other U.S. states, the EU, and the UK, you may have additional rights, such as the right to know what we collect, to limit the use of sensitive information, and to not be treated differently for exercising your rights. To make a request, email support@thetally.ai. We will verify your identity and respond within the time the law requires. [Legal to confirm jurisdictions and required disclosures, including CCPA categories and GDPR legal bases if applicable.]
